Well well well
Look at me not writing as much
At least not on here
At school it's quicker to type
Now that I'm home, it's easier to grab my journal, run to the beach, and sit out writing while listening to the ocean. Though, I have to admit, I haven't actually taken my journal to the beach yet. But I have taken it outside a lot. I love sitting in the grass outside and writing. I love being outside!
Last week was a great opportunity to be outside, I got to go with my family to a camp for YL while my Dad is working. It was a pretty small week, only 91 middle schoolers. But every day was amazing. Living in the craziness that is YL is probably one of the best things ever. Living with the craziness that is my family, clearly the best gift I ever received. I got to spend quality time with my brother and see how he's grown. I saw a side of my Daddy I only see when he's working at camp. I went on a hike with my Mommy to a lighthouse. I chased butterflies. I took pictures. I read a book (okay... a few books!). I worked on my thesis for a project I have next semester as a Research Assistant (yes, I know I'm a nerd). All in all, it was a GREAT vacation for me. I even got to sit out by the pool and enjoy the sun. What could be better than books, family, prayer time, and a tan?
Then I came home, with my mommy. Six hours total drive time... but hey, when you're driving with someone you love, it's not that long. Time flew by with country music and girl talk. Oh, if you haven't talked to me in a while you should know that I have a new found love for country music. Crack all the jokes you want, when I start hearing pop music using the violin and more than four chords I might love that more. For now, it's country. Saturday was a whirlwind of good times. Beach with my GiGi, lunch with my Library Fairy, and a lovely engagement party for two of my friends. Who, by the way, I still can't believe are getting married. I mean, I can, but it's crazy. I'm so excited for them! Sunday I sang in church then went home with my mommy. Right after she left I mowed the lawn and lounged for the day.
Yesterday was AMAZING! I went out with Library Fairy to the City. We went in to go to Alice's Tea Cup (one of my FAVORITE places to be). We got tea and scones and talked and laughed. Then we walked uptown to see the Alice statue in Central Park. After a lovely time seeing that for the first time we walked through the park. Taking pictures, sharing stories, and enjoying a beautiful day. We walked until there was no more park then went shopping. We only went to a few stores but spent hours in them. It was SO MUCH FUN to walk all around the city just being in stores and laughing. Window shopping for me but LF got some really cool outfits! And of course, some super cute accessories. Then we reached time square where we decided we were hungry and LF decided we would go to Bubba Gump's. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! It was the coolest place EVER! What a treat! We got shrimp, this delicious lemonade, and I even got to eat a lobster claw! It was the coolest! She's the sweetest. I couldn't believe she took me there. It was the best. We then proceeded to get MACARONS! Seriously, they are the best dessert I have ever eaten. I think that Raspberry ones are my favorite. This really shouldn't surprise anyone, almost anything Raspberry is my favorite. Then we played scrabble on the train on the way home. It was great. The entire day was a whirlwind of fun! I call this girl, librarian, person, many things... but it really feels like she's a Fairy Godmother most of the time. She transforms ordinary work days to days of laughter. She poofs me to places I never thought I'd be. It was a grand old time. Really... it was a beautiful day.
Today vacation ended. I had work this morning. The YA cart was so full I spent the ENTIRE morning sorting through SIX SHELVES OF UNSHELVED BOOKS in order to see what fit and what didn't. Surprisingly a lot of it did with some adjusting. I got it down to two shelves of books that didn't fit. But of course, not without help. Lovely Elphie came to visit me and brought me TEA! TEA!! :D It was so much fun to have her there with me working up a storm. Then I biked over to her house and we had lunch and watched a few episodes of the Big Bang Theory. Now I'm home with my puppy, took him for a walk, cleaned up a little, and am now writing. I have work again tonight, BABYSITTING! I love my jobs.
Anyway, just thought I should write a little. I realize summer is so much fun, I forget to share about it!
