This summer was filled with more adventures and beauty than can be told. It began with a trip to Florida with my family. There was a road trip, a vacation home, and a week of adventures. How do you even describe a family vacation? Relaxing, tanning, and watching TV (and that was just what Dad was doing!).
After a rejuvenating week with my family they went home and I stayed in FL to see my dearest Abi for a week. She graduated high school! I was so proud to be able to attend her party. We went to the beach, we made tea cups, we even went shopping!
One of my favorite parts was having a photo shoot. Abi won a professional shoot and instead of being traditional, she did a friendship shoot! This is one of my favorites from the night...
After getting home I partied again at my friends wedding. The very first of my peers to get married. It was such an emotional day. I was so proud to be able to help cooking food. So excited to see them say I do. And of course, ecstatic to party with my friends and family.
My family left me for a little while this summer. They had to go to work at a camp for YL. They loved it though, and I got to grow up a little and take care of a house. It was interesting, but I was never lonely. I had lots of people to spend time with.
Misfit took me out for tea as an early birthday present. We had a lovely time despite some construction next door (it was a bit of noise). We ordered delicious sandwhiches, which Misfit has even remade a few times at home since, and the desserts were lovely! Thought we did decide that Alice's has the best scones. It was a lovely day of tea and thrift store shopping.
I had lovely adventures with my Gigi. We went to the beach, we met college friends, we laughed, I even tried to longboard once or twice. While I didn't do so well on the long board, I did master my fear of falling. Leave it to my lovely best friend to convince me to jump off of a bridge:
Of course, before she left me for Ireland we went for a run in the sprinkler park in town. We couldn't go a whole summer without that, it's practically a tradition!
Just when my best friend left, a few other friends arrived! My dearest second family showed up to keep me company (bringing home cooked food and mapped out adventures with them!)
Our first adventures took us to the MoMA where I spent a frivolous amount of time staring at Starry Night. That was the highlight of the museum for me.
The highlight of my day in the city was watching Shakespeare in the park and dancing on the bells in Battery Park. You may not know what that means, but it's hard to explain. There's a box in the ground like hop scotch with bells under it. When you step on the squares it rings different bells. Each of us took turns dancing on the bells to see if we could recreate a song. It was beautiful. Romantic even! I couldn't get over the beauty of the night...
Since most of my summer was spent at the beach I figured I should post a picture of it that Jord took:
I spent another day in the Guggenheim:
And when I wasn't babysitting as a job, I spent my time with my Mico. My little prince charming. He loves the ocean almost as much as I do! I can't take how fast he's growing.
While not all of the summer was filled with joy, it was filled with beauty. Beauty in the tears. Beauty in the pain. Beauty from ashes.
For the rest of the summer I'm ready to spend time with my big Sissy. Watch movies with Shawn. Go shopping for school... 14 days until I go back and start my year as an RA.
I'm not sure I'm ready to go yet... but ready or not here it comes. Good thing I have 14 days left! ;)
