Car rides can give you the opportunity to think,
To breathe,
To sit… for a very long time.
Or maybe just a short while.
But mainly… to think…
There’s a language in the smallest things.
In the way the wind goes through the trees, whispering.
The way the sunrise never fails to come up.
Saying, “I will always be there.”
The way the waves crash on the sand, laughing.
The way the thunder crashes, screaming in pain.
The way the stars shine on even the darkest nights.
Saying, “There’s no dark moment I am not present.”
The way a quiet rain hits the window, crying.
When her smile can touch a heart
When his passion shows in his eyes
When her melody is a life lesson
When his guitar can move a mountain
How little kids can trust they’ll be okay falling asleep in your arms
How no matter how many times you yell at your dog, they still wag their tail when you walk in the room
How family is a bond that can’t be broken, and a bond that isn’t chosen
Time to ask…
Why do people always say, “I’m okay.”
Even if they aren’t.
Why do people always ask the question, when they don’t want the answer.
Why is life valuable, but people don’t value their lives?
Why would someone rather worry about tomorrow than be thankful for today?
Do you know that you can change a life with a smile?
That with a word of thanks you can make someone’s day?
Do you listen for those languages?
Do you hear the whispered I love you.
The melody of the sun on the ground…
Can you hear the song?
And more importantly… will you dance to it?
