Airport Realizations...

I spent an entire week in Ohio and I still cannot figure out how to sum up the time I was there. Really, it may be easiest in bullet points.

  • Tears at the airport when I first saw Katie
  • Laughter because I brought Bagels
  • Exploring her town, her house, and her state
  • Becoming a part of her family
  • Christmas "for Kenzi" - in which her family spoiled me entirely too much and I cried some more
  • Dressing up and having a fancy dinner and tea
  • Seeing Les Miserables... twice...
  • Actually getting dressy and going out to dinner for "Mum"'s birthday - where waiters called me Mam and poured my water for me nearly every time I took a sip
  • Meeting Bucky at the Natural Museum of History and browsing art at the Art Museum - in which I discovered not all trains and subways are created equal...
  • Laughing until my sides hurt almost every day
  • Monopoly - where singing "I've done no wrong, Sweet Jesus hear my prayer!" is the only acceptable way to be sent to jail. And building a barricade on top of free parking yelling "VIVE LA FRANCE!" is a perfectly acceptable way to end the game.
  • Watching Les Mis 25th almost every day
  • Singing Les Mis, playing Les Mis in the car, discussing Les Mis, rereading Les Mis - I'm still not sure if I went to Ohio or revolutionary France, but I'm okay with it...
  • Ghibli before bed
  • Musical references in almost every sentence, some from things other than Les Mis!
  • Walking on a beach at an amusement park that may or may not have been open. But there weren't any signs, so I'm still not sure...
  • Tears at the airport as I left

Although the airport taught me some valuable lessons. Never plan last minute rush, because your flight may be delayed. It is always acceptable to buy a new book when a flight is delayed. When you have to transfer planes, your luggage does not. This may result in learning the virtue of patience as you have to wait three hours for the next flight to get in with your luggage. Small airports are better for flying out of, although eerily empty at night when you fly in...

All in all, the vacation was a breath of fresh air well needed before heading back to school.
Ready or not semester here I come...
