Weddings & Room Purging

Brian and Nicole are now married! MARRIED! Beautiful... that is really the only word I can use to describe such an event. The entire time it was simply beautiful. From the simple ceremony, to their hands being fastened together, to the first time they were introduced as man and wife. They asked me to sing while their hands were fastened together. I chose the song 'A Page is Turned' by Bebo Norman. I love that song, and I love Brian and Nicole. I couldn't think of a better blessing than to be able to sing that song for them. After their wonderful ceremony was a party! A party with an abundance of food... seriously... So. Much. Food. Of a thousand different varieties. Everything that I ate tasted good, from the ordurves, to the appetizer, to the main course, to dessert!

Of course, that spanned out through the ENTIRE night. Ordurves were at 630, appetizers at 830, main course at 930, dessert at 1030. Dancing, toasts, mingling, and laughter all in between. There were two dances that stuck out to me. The first was Brian and Nicole's first dance. They danced to the song 'You're Beautiful' by Phil Wickham. The song is spectacular... and so are they. My favorite line is, "I see Your power in the moonlit night. Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright. We are amazed in the light of the stars." When the song begins to play you think that it's being sung from a man to a woman. But it's not written that way... it's actually written for Jesus Christ. And I believe it to be one of the most fantastic songs ever written. Of course... I say that about a lot of songs! The second dance that stood out was one of the last. 14 people other than Brian and Nicole were called up to the dance floor, me included. And there on that dance floor, with everyone watching, the 18 of us did the Virginia Reel. Yup, we square danced at a wedding, in our fancy dresses and tuxes... and it was FUN! By the time I got home it was 1230 and I was exhausted.

Needless to say I slept in today. Then I had brunch, exercised, read, watched a little TV and began purging my room. Everything unnecessary had to go. Old clothes, old shoes, old things... OUT! Organization came in. I am thoroughly excited about it. My room is clean. Organized. I even delved into my ATTIC and got rid of stuff. I have officially put away ALL of my school books. Goodbye high school, hello summer, and there's college in the not-so-distant future!

After room purging I went and watched my brother play hockey. The cold rink is a pleasant change from the muggy outdoors. There wasn't actually a game today, it was scrimmages and such, but I went to take pictures and watch him play. He enjoys my presence, and I enjoy watching him improve in what he loves to do!

That was pretty much my day... also, I'm memorizing 1 Corinthians 13. Because I think it's a beautiful passage...

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
