It is a truth universally acknowledged (by library Yenta's) that a single girl, in possession of good character, must be in want of a boyfriend...

Today I walked into the library for work and before I could even time my card in a few ladies had begun a conversation with me. One of our male librarians was standing there talking about his son coming to visit for the weekend and what happens?

"Oh, his son is so good looking! Don't you think so?"
"Oh you're single sweetie, you should go out with him!"
"He's coming this weekend!"
"Oh, your son is single right? GOOD!"
"You would love to meet him, you're such a good girl, it would be a shame not to try."

As I try to laugh it off an walk away I can't help but roll my eyes as soon as I turn my back. I mean really, does single usually equal blind date offers from everyone? I'm good... thanks though, I'll just hang out with my friends...

And we love it!
