The train ride was easy and inexpensive. The moment I walked in it felt warm and welcoming. I loved how stocked the shelves were, how cute the set up was, and how nicely it was organized. There were posters for small book companies, new indie book releases, and people just meandering about. The panel was so relaxed and inviting. They answered all the questions and signed all the books. They were down to earth and really fascinating. But, my favorite part of it was that one of my favorite authors was there. Which is a rarity because most of my favorite authors are dead. April Lindner wrote a modern adaption of Jane Eyre titled Jane. It was a book that swept me off my feet and captured my heart, falling in love with the story all over again while bonding with new characters. April was a sweetheart to meet and I could not believe I had the opportunity.
After meeting her I looked around a bit more and fell in love with a few more books, but I only purchased one. The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by William Joyce. A lovely children's book that has won it's way into my top 10 Children's Books. It also won a lot of other things, including an Academy Award after being made into a short film, which is also stunning. If you have time, here is the link to watch it:
All in all, it was a lovely night.
It was well worth the few hours I took off of school, beneficial even. Now I feel rejuvenated to sit down and work. And then maybe read my new book again before bed...
